I grew up in Michigan and will always hold 'The Mitten' in my heart. I attended Central Michigan University for Undergraduate and Graduate school; receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education for Social Studies and Dance in 2005, followed by a Master of Arts in Humanities in 2010. I taught both Social Studies and Dance for five years at a fine arts charter school in Michigan, as well as was Artistic Director of the Middle School Dance Company. Aside from dancing and teaching, I played saxophone in a 7-piece band for 2 years, performing at many venues throughout Michigan and recording a studio album.
In 2011, my husband, Jeff, and I moved to St. Louis. I taught Government and Economics at CPA before finding my niche here at GCAA, teaching both dance and Social Studies over the years. I am beyond thrilled to be working with the dedicated and creative students and staff at GCAA, whether it's in the dance studio or the Social Studies classroom. I am truly honored to share in this experience and spread my passion and joy for learning.
On the weekends or after school I enjoy running, fly fishing, reading, cooking, traveling, and playing with my dogs. We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Phoenix, and a lab-mix rescue puppy, Maple. I'm an avid NCAA Football fan, cheering on my ND Fightin' Irish and Michigan Wolverines every Saturday in the fall. Jeff and I also enjoy attending live music performances and sporting events around the city.
Why do I teach?
Teaching allows me to guide people into becoming empowered, literate, engaged, creative human beings who want to make a positive impact in the world. Teaching is who I am. I am thankful for each & every day I get to spend in the classroom.
